Value of the Month for October

Respect

This month, we are focusing on Respect. We encourage everyone to work together, listen to and respect one another, and offer help when it is needed.

  • Respecting Differences: The curriculum teaches students to respect and value everyone, no matter their social, cultural, religious, or non-religious background. It is about accepting that people are different and treating everyone equally.
  • Respecting Each Other: The main idea is “give respect, get respect.” In the school, students, teachers, and parents use each other’s first names. This helps create a friendly, relaxed environment where everyone is treated equally.
  • Respecting Different Beliefs: In the Belief Systems strand, students can learn about different religions, as well as Humanism, Atheism, and Agnosticism. Everyone is given the chance to learn about different beliefs without one being seen as more important than another.
  • Respecting the Environment: Respect is also about looking after nature and the planet. Strand 4 (Ethics and the Environment) encourages students to appreciate the environment and think about how they can help protect it.
  • Having a Say: Students are encouraged to have their own opinions and take an active role in their education. They learn to think for themselves, share their views, and discuss different opinions respectfully. So as part of this, elections have been held for the Student Council and the Green Team.
