Coiste Gaelbhratach

Ronan, Niamh, Clodagh, Maureen will represent the staff on the Coiste (Committee) Gaelbhratach. Oisín, Elsa, Ella Jane, Max A., Evie, Ugne and Lando will represent the children on this year’s Coiste Gaelbhratach. I’m looking forward to their first initiative, the  Foireann Fáilte (Welcome Team) at the school gate.

I’ve attached a very helpful document, ‘Gaeilge Sa Bhaile’ with many useful phrases you might like to try at home.

Fáilte Mór

Bhí an Coiste Gaelbhratach amuigh san aer maidin inniú ag tabhairt amach “fáilte mór” don scoil ar fad. Bhí na páistí ag cleachtadh a chuid beannachtaí ag an ngeata. Bhí sé an-fhuar ach bhaineamar lán taitnemah as an maidin úr. Thugamar greamáin do na páistí agus na tuismitheoirí ag teacht ar scoil inniú. Béidh an “Foireann Fáilte” ar ais os comhair an scoil an seachtain seo chugainn.

Comórtas Geansaí na Nollaig

Bhí comórtas Geansaí na Nollaig eagraithe ag an bhfoireann Gaelbhratach le linn an Nolliag. Feicfidh tú na geansaithe álainn in aice le Rang 3 agus Rang 4.

Active Homework

We were lucky enough to have a visit from Reem and RTE News2Day to film children from 3rd class talking about how they learn Irish.

News2Day recorded children speaking and listening using recordable listening devices. They also filmed them using the “Is Féidir Linn” programme from the Gaelbhratach website.

‘Is Féidir Linn’ aims to make the language accessible for all parents and guardians, regardless of their own Irish language skills or experience, using phrases, stories and songs for children about the daily routines of family life. Click on the attached link to find out more. Is Féidir Linn

Reem, the RTE presenter asked the children questions about why it is important to learn Irish and what they enjoy about learning Irish. It was a fantastic experience. See 3rd class on News2Day in the video below along with a gallery of pictures taken on the day.
