Forest Club at Belmont Demesne
2nd Class children and staff really enjoyed their school trip this week. We traveled to Belmont Demesne near Bray to learn about nature and the environment on a guided nature trail with Felicity. We saw 300 year old trees and a fox den and a badger sett. At base camp we built shelters using sticks, leaves, moss. Felicity tested it’s waterproofness by sprinkling water on the top. We learned about flint and fire safety and we helped Felicity build a campfirefrom scratch with flint and then we toasted marshmallows.
We chilled on the swings, hammocks and the children created fabulous lunches in the in the outdoor play kitchen between activities. Calls of “Your seafood chouder is ready, do you want fresh sourdough bread with that or a salad?”
We then had real lunch gathered around the campfire and at the end of the day we all got to toast marshmallows, it was a very fun day altogether.
