“I was excited to make bread on Friday last. I never made bread before now” said Danny. “Neither did I”, said Valintina. Tadhg, Antek and Layla had made bread before at home but never in school.
We made 4 loaves of bread between the whole class. Anna said it was her mother’s recipe. We all followed Anna’s instructions being careful with measuring out bread soda and salt. We also had to be careful when we were cracking the egg into the bowl. Within a short while you could smell a lovely baking smell throughout the whole school.
Lilian and Edie have written out the recipe for you to make bread at home. It is well worth giving the recipe a try. Every child tried a slice with butter, butter and jam or just jam. Most of the children had a 2nd slice. Ben was surprised how good his bread tasted.
