This week we are going BIG! We learned about the Blue Whale, the largest mammel on Planet Earth! We challenged you to measure out 30 metres with the help of an adult or sibling.
Did you know that Blue whales have no teeth but have instead baleen plates. Baleen is a filter-feeding system inside the mouths of baleen whales. To use baleen, the whale first opens its mouth underwater to take in water. The whale then pushes the water out, and animals such as krill are filtered by the baleen and remain as a food source for the whale.
Below we have some of the Blue Whales we have received this week from our students. Great work Guys! Anne & Patricia
