This year we combined World Book Day with International World Polar Bear Day, which was held earlier in the week, to give a ‘bear’ theme to our reading. A selection of books was on display in the display area at the bottom of the stairs and in the school library and classes read fiction and non-fiction books about bears, while older children did some research about the plight of the world’s bears and learned some facts about the ‘king of the arctic’.
Children dressed in white and brought a bear to assembly, where we had a question and answer session on the polar bear facts discovered by each class.
Each child also brought 50c to support WWF ‘adopt a bear’.
