Some kids from 4th and 5th class made bird seed fat balls. We like to look after our feathered friends in the winter months. The ICT committee helped to take the photos. Ilana is on both the ICT committee and the Green Schools committee and is a great liaison between the two committees.

How to make bird fat balls
Ingredients:
- Bird seed
- Plastic yogurt cup
- String
- Animal lard (not vegetable fat as it destroys the birds’ bodies)
What to do!!!
- Melt one part lard to two parts bird seed
- Stir the bird seed into the melted lard
- Make a hole in the bottom of a yogurt cup
- Thread a string through the hole
- Tie a knot on the end outside the yogurt cup
6. Fill the cup with the bird seed
8. Cut away the yogurt cup and hang on a tree with the string
