We went outside on Friday to take part in handball games being played as part of Active Schools Week. 5THand 6th Classes took part in the event and the kids from 1st to 4th were on the side-lines watching the match. Some of the staff also took part in the event. There were seven teams of mixed classes and staff.
The rules:
- Once you got the ball you could not move.
- While you had the ball no one could tackle you.
- The only way you could move forward was by passing the ball.
- You can move when you no longer had the ball.
- The games were 3 minutes long because of time pressure.
My team won their only match and had a great time doing it. It was a nice way to get some of the classes moving and teaching the younger children about handball. I would suggest a handball team to be established by the Sports Committee in the future.
