Last week we hosted our Active School Week in RETNS. The week got off to a great start and many classes resumed their 10@10 and were on the playground daily completing the Run Around Europe Challenge. We calculated that we ran 453.5km and classes used Google Maps to work out what countries we ran to.

The 5th and 6th class Active School Leaders organised lunch time challenges and armed with their stopwatches and ASF badges they challenged the boys and girls (and some staff) to complete some very tough physical challenges on the yard. They helped to record results and also carried out some indoor challenges across the school. The Active School Leaders handed out some Active at Home journals and students were encouraged to record some of the activities they were doing for Active Homework. There was dancing for each class on different days. We also now have games on the Junior Yard so we are encouraging activity in all classes. Active School Leaders also surveyed what boys and girls attended sports or active clubs after school. These after school activities included rowing, swimming, judo, karate, horseriding, football, yoga to name but a few.

Rebecca also continued with Yoga and there were some extra Yoga classes available during the week. Our Yoga Tuesday lessons are now on the school website. Santry trials will be happening this week in RETNS so Active week has been a great time to prepare for running season.

Well done to the Active School Committee and to everybody for being so Active.
