Worms are cool!

3rd Class Wormery Update

Third Class have carried on working with the Wormery this year. We were pleased to see that there was lovely, rich fresh compost ready to use for the garden beds when we returned in September. We raked the fresh compost to one third of the box and rebuilt the other two thirds of the Wormery. The children collected dead leaves from the wildlife garden, Carol gave us shredded paper and we mixed these together with some water and built up the new section of the Wormery. We fed the worms fruit and vegetable waste and will continue to feed them each week. After we worked on the Wormery we weeded our vegetable garden, took away the fallen leaves and raked the soil to prepare it for planting in the next few months. Third Class love being out in nature and have learned a lot about worms and gardening. We are looking forward to planting daffodils in early November in the side garden.
